AWARD WINNING BBQ BEANS

THE FORMULA

10 Bacon slices
1 large onion, chopped
1 small jalapeno pepper, chopped
1 cup catsup
6 tablespoons dark brown sugar (packed)
3 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 16-ounce can pork and beans
1 16-ounce can kidney beans, drained
1 16-ounce can butter beans, drained

Slowly fry the bacon in a heavy skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 5 minutes. Transfer bacon to paper towels; reserve drippings. Add onion to the skillet with the drippings and cook until translucent, stirring occasionally, about 7 minutes. Add chopped jalapeno the last 2 or 3 minutes. Transfer the onions and jalapeno mixture to a large Dutch Oven. Add next 5 ingredients to the Dutch Oven. Mix. Crumble bacon and add to onion mixture. Mix in the beans. Cook in 350 degree oven or in/on BBQ until mixture bubbles.

After eating, stand downwind from your friends.
